About
After attending Mercer College, Dr. Hayes received a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Physics from the Medical College of Georgia (MCG). She continued her academic pursuits at MCG, completing her M.D. degree, Internal Medicine internship, and Radiation Oncology residency there. After a short time in a private clinical practice in Leesburg, Florida, she joined the faculty of the University of Florida in Gainesville in 1998 as an assistant professor.
In 2003, Dr. Hayes left the University practice and is currently the Medical Director of the North Florida Cancer Institute and North Florida Radiation Oncology Centers in Gainesville. Dr. Hayes has received numerous awards, including membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, recognition as an Outstanding Woman of the Year by the Jaycees of American, and listing in Who's Who of American College Students.
She serves on many community boards including the American Cancer Society, Advisory Board of Gainesville Health and Fitness, and the Gainesville Theater of Performing Arts. She is a member of numerous professional societies including ASTRO, ACRO, ASCO, AMA, and the American Brachytherapy Society. Dr. Hayes has a particular interest in breast cancer and the use of Radiosurgery. She is a strong advocate of community education, and gives 30-40 patient focused talks throughout the year. She is actively involved in enhancing "Quality of Life" cancer programs and developing multi-disciplinary cancer management teams at the North Florida Regional Medical Center.
As a former tri-athlete, Dr. Hayes enjoys all types of sports, and typically hits the swimming pool at 4:30am!
