Radiation therapy is often used to treat breast cancer for women who choose to have breast conserving surgery or as additional therapy for some women who have a mastectomy where there is concern that the cancer will come back in the area where the breast was. In many cases chemotherapy and /or hormone therapy is given either before or after radiation as part of the complete treatment for this disease. Additionally, there is often a role for radiation therapy in the instances where breast cancer recurs, either in the breast or other parts of the body.

At The Cancer Center at Lake City, we are able to treat breast cancer using several different technologies, including MammoSite®, and Varian IMRT. The best method for your treatment is a decision you and your doctor make together.
